Day 115 Living in Jamaica

The title is not completely accurate but we are going to go with it since it is the 115th day living in Jamaica this calendar year.

We enjoy evenings on the verandah together. This particular night Andrew (the dog) had to work on his “fear of watta” and his human thought Andrew should be outside while it was raining. We took this opportunity because it was raining and the breeze was refreshing, so we hung on the hammock with Andrew and me. But not after his walk in the rain, much to his dismay!

I am settled in my cookie cutter house. I have adopted a dog and am fostering another dog. I am still undecided if she is my dog.

I find it terrible that if you foster a dog and do not adopt the dog it is considered a “foster fail”! I beg to differ.

If you have ever picked out a dog you will understand that it is a mutual decision. We are still deciding. I am going to get married soon. I am writing my book. I am on sabbatical for one year to decide what I will be when I grow up. And I am feeling the peace. The peace that I feel is the peace I held my breath for.

I realize that some may say that my peace does not come from earthly things. I would argue the purpose then of such beautiful earthly things? I do think things can be used by God to bring us peace. Why would a loving God not want us to experience peace on this beautiful earth and through those things he created/designed. I have organized my life intentionally for a place of peace from whatever brings strife.

Strife: 1. a quarrel, struggle, or 2. clash: armed strife. 3. competition or rivalry: the strife of the marketplace. 4. Archaic. strenuous effort.

I am not saying that I had to move to Jamaica to find my peace. I am saying that Jamaica wooed me, there was an instant connection when I landed for the first time in August 2020.

There is still struggle, peace is not the absence of strife..

I could list picture after picture but instead, I will save some of the beauty for another post. And the beat goes on.
